Onefifteen \"Fashion Reimagining Workshop\" took place on August 4th, featured an online live discussion with esteemed fashion media \u2014Editor Guai, Purchasing Manager from onefifteen\u2014Licia Lee, and two Taiwanese fashion brand founders\u2014Yu-Ying Chou and Chia-Hung Su.<\/p>

\u00a0As global awareness of environmental and ecological protection increases, many designers are beginning to integrate the concept of sustainability into their brands. They are exploring innovative ways to make changes in the production process, reduce resource waste, and enhance brand competitiveness. This shift is driving a wave of transformation in the fashion industry, making \"upcycling\" a key topic of interest in mainstream fashion media.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In August 2021, Taiwan's fashion curator Onefifteen brought together brands focused on \"sustainable fashion,\" including New York menswear brand BODE, French designer brand Marine Serre, Taiwanese designer JUST IN XX, and Chiahung Su. They hosted a \"Fashion Upgrade and Reinvention Workshop,\" featuring the stylish Allen Yang and ethereal rising actress Wu Zifei, who showcased upgraded and transformed fashion looks.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0For this event, Onefifteen has exclusively collaborated with the brand JUST IN XX to launch the Fall\/Winter 2021 Upgrade and Reinvention Collection. Additionally, they have partnered with Chiahung Su\u2019s founder, Su Chia-hung, to offer a selection of rare vintage floral fabrics and three distinct patterns, providing customers with bespoke customization services during the event.<\/span><\/p>

New York Menswear Brand - BODE\n\nEmily Adams Bode\u2019s brand, BODE, revolves around the core philosophy of \"past fabrics, modern silhouettes, and a sustainable future.\" Influenced from a young age by antique and vintage cultures, the designer is passionate about collecting historical fabrics from around the world. On the brand\u2019s website, you can clearly see the era and historical background of each fabric, including Victorian quilts, 1920s bed linens, 18th-century tablecloths, and embroidery textiles from Japanese and Indian artisans.\n\nEmily Bode deconstructs these fabrics and reconstructs them into new, unique pieces using workwear silhouettes, traditional craftsmanship, and retro visuals. Her expertise lies in upgrading and reconfiguring fabrics, giving them a fresh and distinctive appearance. Through this creative process, she reconnects the past with the present, merging old materials with innovative concepts into one cohesive narrative.<\/p>

Onefifteen x Luxxury Godbage by JUST IN XX Collaboration Series<\/span><\/p>

Taiwan's first designer to showcase at New York Fashion Week, Chou Yu-ying, graduated from Italy's Domus Academy and the University of Wales in the UK. Known for his cross-disciplinary creativity, he is often hailed as a \"cross-border genius.\" In 2014, he founded his personal brand, JUST IN XX, which embodies the spirit of \"the more local, the more international.\" His work frequently merges diverse artistic and cultural influences from both past and present to create innovative \"Chinese street style\" designs.<\/p>

\u00a0Taiwanese Designer : Chiahung Su<\/p>

Graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2019, Chiahung Su launched his eponymous brand the same year. The designer is dedicated to showcasing Taiwan's rich cultural heritage through a blend of Japanese colonial influences, indigenous culture, and Han ethnic customs, capturing Taiwan\u2019s unique cultural contours and color palette within East Asia.\n\nChiahung Su interprets the progression of beauty by highlighting imperfections, the beauty of decay, and natural aging. Through garment silhouettes, bindings, constraints, and layered imagery, as well as curved, wrinkled, and mottled visuals, his designs present a sophisticated and understated exterior with a unique, opulent essence. The principles of \"sustainable management\" and \"green fashion\" are deeply ingrained in the brand's core philosophy.<\/p>

\"New Moon\" Designer : MARINE SERRE<\/p>

\u00a0In Marine Serre\u2019s designs, the \"New Moon\" print plays a significant role. This symbol, which is linked to various cultures and religions, has become an official trademark for the brand. Marine Serre is not only adept at exploring contemporary social issues through design but also demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental conservation. This is evident from past collections, such as the Spring\/Summer 2020 show Marr\u00e9 Noire (\"Black Tide\"), which reflects on oil pollution, and the Autumn\/Winter 2019 collection Radiation, which explores the apocalyptic scenario of radiation leaks.\n\nMarine Serre excels in employing upcycling techniques to integrate its core brand philosophy into its designs. The brand operates four sub-lines\u2014red, green, white, and gold\u2014where the green line is exclusively focused on upcycled and recycled materials. For instance, the Spring\/Summer 2020 collection achieved a 50% utilization of recycled materials. For Marine Serre, upcycling is not just a trend but a belief, and reconstructed garments must also embody fashion and aesthetic appeal, or they lose their significance.<\/p>

Transforming Basketball into Fashion : Andrea Bergart<\/p>

This is the work of Andrea Bergart, an artist from New York who was once a member of the Manhattan women\u2019s basketball team. Her interest in accessory design was sparked by her experience assisting in the collaboration between artist Chris Martin and Christian Dior on the Lady Dior bag. Bergart's designs are centered around environmental sustainability. She draws inspiration from streetwear and sports to reinvent second-hand basketballs, giving them new life as unique fashion handbags. She is known for her dedication to handcrafted accessories, all meticulously produced in her studio in the South of France. Each piece, including ties and shawls, is created with the precision of French artisans with decades of experience, elevating them to the realm of art.\n\nJo\u00eblle draws inspiration from her travels, where she collects beautiful antique fabrics, luxurious gemstones, and intricate embellishments such as embroidery and feathers.
