YMS by onefifteen: Envisioning a Beautiful Life, Beginning on Yangmingshan

Amid the quiet heights at the edge of the city, Yangmingshan has long stood with timeless grace—bearing the past, embracing the present, and leaving poetic space for what is yet to come.

Extending the vision of onefifteen and its pursuit of a beautiful way of life, YMS by onefifteen rises gently from the misty slopes of Yangmingshan. Here, where nature and history intertwine, begins a contemporary experiment in aesthetic living. Drawing from mid-century modern American design, and blending spatial philosophy with curated lifestyle elements, YMS by onefifteen offers not only an immersive journey of the senses but also a heartfelt love letter to everyday life in the post-pandemic era.

Unveiling YMS by onefifteen: Outlining the Contours of Ideal Living

Located in the H-2 section of the former U.S. military housing on Yangmingshan, YMS by onefifteen inherits the vocabulary of 1950s American mid-century modernism—flat roofs, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, and sunlit interiors—reinterpreting these architectural elements through the lens of contemporary living. Today, this space has been reimagined as a living curation of architecture, art, cuisine, and everyday philosophy—a fresh expression of optimism and freedom that marks the beginning of a new blueprint for modern life.

The site consists of five sensory spaces: Restaurant 12, Lab 10, Spa 6, Gallery 4, and the lodging experience Dwell 8—each embodying a unique sense: taste, experimentation, healing, art, and dwelling. The story begins with the first two to open: Lab 10 and Restaurant 12.
Lab 10 is a hybrid tea salon that redefines the traditional framework of tea culture. Its horizontally designed tea bar blends coffee, Western pastries, and a new kind of social ritual to create a cross-cultural, cross-sensory culinary experiment. Restaurant 12 features an open kitchen nestled within a sun-drenched glasshouse. Led by Executive Chef Jonatan Motos Ferrán, the restaurant is a tribute to “Flavors of the Island”—a cuisine rooted in the sea and land of Taiwan. With a curated wine cellar and a slow-food philosophy, dining becomes a lifestyle performance—an interplay of rhythm and design that sketches the outline of a limitless life.

Living Tastefully: Design, Curation, and Everyday Craftsmanship

Staying true to the essence of mid-century modern American design, YMS by onefifteen thoughtfully considers every detail—from architecture and furnishings to tableware and daily objects. By collaborating with global design brands, the space translates "lifestyle aesthetics" into tangible, everyday experiences. The grounds feature exclusive pieces from refined global brands: Hand-embroidered cushions by Anke Drechsel (Germany), Crystal glassware by ARTĚL Glass (Czech Republic), Artisanal fragrances by Mon Dada (Belgium), Premium leather goods by Pinetti (Italy), Playful home accessories by Pip Studio (Netherlands)

Herman Miller’s timeless furniture anchors every room, honoring collaborations with iconic designers such as Charles & Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Isamu Noguchi. The space becomes a warm, open, emotionally resonant atmosphere—an embodiment of the modern spirit YMS seeks to share.
Italian leather atelier Pinetti lends elegance and functionality with handcrafted trays, woven baskets, limited-edition trolleys, and board game sets—each piece a union of traditional craft and modern form, reflecting the brand's obsession with detail.

In the private and comforting spaces of Spa 6 and Dwell 8, guests enjoy linens and robes from Hill House Home (U.S.), and luxurious organic cotton towels and mats from Tekla (Copenhagen)—bringing the warmth of home to every stay.

For tableware, YMS collaborated with ARTĚL to craft custom-engraved pieces for Lab 10 and Restaurant 12—celebrating artisanal craftsmanship in every detail. Coffee service is equally elevated, using handcrafted brass pour-over stands from The Coffee Registry (U.S.), merging function and beauty in the bar design. Scent also plays a key role in the sensory journey. In a cross-cultural collaboration, French heritage fragrance house Trudon and Taiwanese tea master Yu-Huei Tseng created the tea-inspired “Waterside Journey” collection. Each scent—“Refined Waters,” “Lands of Abundance,” and “Falling Petals”—pays tribute to the depth of Asian tea culture and reflects YMS’s graceful balance of fragrance, culture, and ritual.

Even the team uniforms are part of the story. Crafted by BODE (New York), known for antique textiles, and Kolor (Japan), known for its eclectic yet harmonious design language, the outfits are finished with custom scarves by YMS, telling a unified and intentional visual narrative.

At YMS by onefifteen, a brand is never just a space—it is the embodiment of a lifestyle philosophy. From furniture and objects to textiles and uniforms, every element is a tangible expression of taste and a deep proposal for ideal living—inviting guests to enter a thoughtfully designed journey that nourishes both body and soul.

Design & Art in Harmony: A Subtle Weaving of Everyday Beauty

At YMS by onefifteen, the focus lies not only on the form of space but on the spirit that flows within. Every structure is a collaborative artwork—co-created by a team of designers across architecture, landscape, and interior.
Within the delicate interplay of light, texture, and material, the boundaries between art and daily life blur.

Lab 10 becomes a living gallery, featuring metal works by artist Su Jian-Lin, ceramics by Tsai Yi-Fang, and tea ceremonies performed by Michelin-trained sommelier Chang Shu-Han. Here, art is no longer confined to gallery walls—it is something to touch, to hold, and to taste.
In this space, beauty is not observed—it is experienced.

To Be Continued: Gallery 4, Spa 6, and Dwell 8 to Complete the Vision

As Gallery 4, Spa 6, and Dwell 8 open in succession, a fuller story of living unfolds—from artistic expression and holistic wellness to mindful dwelling.
YMS by onefifteen reimagines the five elements of living—eat, drink, play, rest, and reside—through a contemporary lens of cultural depth and emotional warmth. This is more than a destination. It is a village of ideas, a breath of modern life, and a dialogue across time.

You are invited to wander at your own pace, to feel deeply, and to write your own chapter within this evolving journey of beautiful living.
