BOTTEGA VENETA
Bottega Veneta literally means "workshop of the Veneto region." Founded in 1966 by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro in Vicenza, northeastern Italy, the brand quickly gained popularity among international celebrities due to its exceptional craftsmanship and understated style. In 2001, Bottega Veneta was acquired by the Kering Group, which appointed Tomas Maier, a former Hermès designer, as creative director. Under Tomas's precise vision and commitment to the brand's essence, the iconic woven designs that now represent the brand were introduced in the spring/summer 2002 collection.
The current creative director, Daniel Lee, graduated from Central Saint Martins and has previously worked at Maison Margiela, Balenciaga, Donna Karan, and Céline. Described as a "quiet radical" by British Vogue, Lee took the helm of Bottega Veneta and led the brand to win four awards at the 2019 British Fashion Awards. His iconic pieces for that season, including the cloud clutch, leather skirts, and square-toed sandals, became must-have items in the fashion world.
For the Spring/Summer 2020 collection, Daniel Lee continued to refine the evolving brand identity, focusing on exploring proportion, structure, and craftsmanship. He also broke the conventional image of leather by interpreting sports and casual silhouettes in leather, and introduced rare printed styles featuring pineapple and monkey patterns in black and blue. This blend of elegance with a playful spirit showcased a refreshing sense of whimsy.
