RICHARD BRENDON

Richard Brendon, a product designer from the UK, graduated from Kingston University at the age of 24. At the age of 25, he decided to use the 300 to 400 year old British bone china as the main material for his creations, and set up his own eponymous brand to revitalize this ancient British material through the vocabulary of contemporary design.
Due to his natural curiosity, the young Richard has an excellent ability to appreciate those old pieces in the past, and this talent has allowed him to intuitively reinterpret the original noble and classic bone china, and under the shape of modern style, he has found a brand-new style for the centuries-old traditional craft in the United Kingdom, and once again bloomed with a simple and elegant posture.
Founded in 2012, Richard Brendon has not only focused on tableware design in the short span of four years, but also on revitalizing traditional British craftsmanship, with all of its fine china products handmade by top craftsmen in Stoke-on-Trent, the birthplace of bone china in the UK. "I've been talking to the craftsmen to find out how they work, what they can and can't make. Looking at their past work and trying to see if they can make something more beautiful. Sometimes it's important to question the way they've been making things for a long time," says the designer. This is what the designer says, and it's this insistence on perfection that has led to the creation of these intertwined pieces that have been favored by high-end department stores like Lane Crawford and Bergdorf Goodman.
However, the most popular "Reflect" series in Richard Brendon's product line is Richard's graduation work at Kingston University, inspired by the bone china saucers he saw in markets around the world, those precious bone china saucers because of the lack of the original matching set of cups, and lost its original value, which makes the designer feel very sorry. It was a great pity, but he was inspired to design a mirrored teacup in gold and silver to match these beautiful bone china saucers. He used the principle of reflection to reflect the beautiful patterns on the original saucers onto the mirrored surface of the cups, which not only allowed the delicate prints to return to the cups, but also made it seem as if they were perfect as they were at the time. This wonderful series has not only become his classic masterpieces, but has also been highly praised by ELLE Decoration, Deco Home and many other well-known home design magazines. However, Richard modestly hopes that his works will not only be a momentary surprise, but also a treasured antique in the future, and such a modest attitude makes people love Richard Brendon. Brendon's humble attitude makes people fall in love with Richard.
