Mihara Yasuhiro, a designer from an artistic family, began studying painting at a young age and chose to major in textile design at the renowned Tama Art University in Japan. Believing that true art should not be confined to galleries and should connect more intimately with people, he started using footwear as his medium of expression while still in university, in 1995. His unique aesthetic and unconventional shoe-making techniques garnered widespread acclaim, leading to the establishment of his eponymous brand, Mihara Yasuhiro, in 1997.

The designer excels at blending vintage elements with deconstructed design techniques, disassembling and reassembling garments to create innovative silhouettes. He often combines different tops into a single piece or reconstructs coats into pants, resulting in playful contours and rich layers. This playful spirit is the essence of the brand. “I enjoy things that evolve over time,” says Mihara Yasuhiro, which may explain why each season of Maison Mihara Yasuhiro reveals new dimensions in fashion.
