SS24 PRESENTATION
Avant-garde technology fused with future aesthetics
The theme of Onefifteen's Spring/Summer 2024 collection centers around the fusion of avant-garde technology with futuristic aesthetics, introducing a striking wave of technological futurism. This season, the focus is on the French brand MUGLER, which has sparked discussions with its futuristic clothing. The collection merges curve-hugging sensual designs with bold, structured shoulder pads, embodying a style that blends sensuality with surrealism, defining the feminine image of the 80s and 90s fashion scene. Under the creative direction of Casey Cadwallader, the brand’s avant-garde spirit is continued with a contemporary perspective, focusing on sharp tailoring combined with modern technology and diverse aesthetics. This celebrates the beauty of the human body and signals the liberation of female power, elevating the brand’s concept to new heights.
In addition, this season also highlights the balanced and versatile Chinese designer brand SHUSHU/TONG, as well as the minimalist and sleek Belgian designer brand HELMUT LANG.
SHUSHU/TONG was established by Chinese designers Lei Liushu and Jiang Yutong, founding the brand in Shanghai in 2015. The brand aims to challenge traditional notions of femininity, skillfully blending rebellion with softness. Through a rich exploration of fabric forms, elements such as bows, ruffles, tulle, frills, embroidery, and pearls—evoking a sense of youthful femininity—are deconstructed and redefined. Each season, SHUSHU/TONG uses different fashion languages to convey a modern, strong, and romantic youthful spirit, revealing various identities and facets of contemporary girls. However, at the core of every SHUSHU/TONG girl remains a consistent essence: beneath the youthful, ethereal exterior lies a persistent inner strength.
HELMUT LANG, a representative of 90s minimalist fashion, has introduced a fusion of street sensibility and experimental minimalism. Known for its iconic denim, deconstructed tailoring, and high-functionality fabrics, the brand excels at integrating innovative materials into its designs. This year, Vietnamese-American designer Peter Do was announced as the new Creative Director of Helmut Lang. Embracing the motto of "encouraging people to express their individuality," Do continues Helmut Lang's bold and radical design ethos. Models in tailored suits, shirts, dresses, leather, and denim ensembles showcase Peter Do's refined yet avant-garde approach, emphasizing deconstructive creativity through a minimalist lens.
Onefifteen SS24 Spring/Summer collection is not just a fashion event but a fascinating journey exploring the intersection of technology and aesthetics. This wave of futuristic style is guiding people into an entirely new fashion world, offering fresh experiences and sensations through this season's new releases.
