After studying design at Müller & Sohn in Dusseldorf and the London College of Fashion, Indonesian designer Biyan Wanaatmadja chose to set up his label in 1985 in his native Indonesia. Embedded with the country's fascinating history and culture, BIYAN's designs are a blend of the country's traditional clothing with Western modern sensibilities in a classic, romantic and contemporary silhouette, as if it were a piece of delicate tailoring. BIYAN's designs are like a delicate poem. 1984 saw the debut of the brand's first womenswear collection, which immediately made waves in the Indonesian fashion scene; after many years of refinement, BIYAN launched a full collection in 1992, gradually revealing its unique style and craftsmanship. In 2012, BIYAN was featured in Paris Fashion Week, proving to the world the power of design from the East, and won the favor of many top international department stores and retailers, becoming the shining business card of Indonesia's fashion.
