SHUSHU/TONG is a brand founded by Chinese designers Lei Liushu and Jiang Yutong, both graduates of the London College of Fashion. After interning with independent designers like Simone Rocha and Gareth Pugh, they established SHUSHU/TONG in Shanghai in 2015, naming the brand after their nicknames, Shu Shu and Tong Tong. The brand aims to challenge traditional notions of femininity, skillfully blending rebellion with softness. Through rich explorations of fabric and form, elements such as bows, ruffles, lace, embroidery, and pearls—often associated with girlishness—are deconstructed and redefined to present their vision of femininity. Each season, SHUSHU/TONG uses distinct sartorial language to convey a modern, strong, and romantic sensibility, revealing the diverse identities and facets of contemporary girls. Yet, at the core of the SHUSHU/TONG girl lies a consistent spirit—beneath her girlish exterior lies a hidden tenacity.
