Mendittorosa was founded in 2012, with every fragrance—its notes, story, and packaging—meticulously designed by founder Stefania Squeglia. Each piece is handcrafted by Italian artisans using natural materials like wood, metal, stone, and ceramic. The brand's charm lies in its attention to detail, evident in everything from the bottle caps to the packaging. The bottles are made from top-quality French glass, and the caps and charms are created in collaboration with local artists. Emphasizing natural ingredients, Mendittorosa avoids plastics in its decorations and even uses wooden boxes for packaging, balancing luxury with environmental consciousness. Fragrances are treated as art, deserving of careful appreciation and collection. They represent not just scents but also qualities and memories. While many associate feminine scents with florals and fruits and masculine scents with woods, Mendittorosa's fragrances are gender-neutral, featuring high-recognition, layered aromas that artfully express various emotions and concepts. With oil concentrations of 20% to 30%, Mendittorosa’s fragrances are more enduring than typical perfumes, providing a lasting, deep essence. The brand's fragrances are divided into two collections: "Odori d’Anima" and "Talismans," both rich in religious and philosophical themes that add a layer of mystery. "Odori d’Anima," meaning "the scent of the soul" in Italian, is the main and inaugural collection, symbolizing the journey of rebirth. It reflects the soul and guides wearers to reconnect with their life memories, seeking balance between extremes, as if baptized in pure energy. As Stefania notes, “The soul is important and precious, yet we often do not give it the attention it deserves.” Stefania drew inspiration for the Odori d’Anima series during a trip to Stromboli volcano, which includes sub-collections like The Trilogy, The Duo, Time Without Time, and Versi Studio. “Perfume is very personal, close to your skin, communicating with your brain through scent. I want to create fragrances infused with energy and meaning, layered to protect the wearer,” she explains. Each fragrance holds deeper significance and philosophical depth. The "Talismans" collection, distinct from the main series focused on memory and healing, acts as a nightly prayer to ward off pain and harm, confronting inner and outer evils. This series features fragrances like Le Mat, Sogno Reale, Sirio, Talento, Osang, and Nettuno, with Osang (Holy Blood) being a finalist in the 2018 Golden Pear Awards for Independent Fragrance Art.
